CONCORD, N.H.- A federal judge has issued a temporary stay on language in New Hampshire’s state budget trailer bill that bans government agencies from engaging in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practices.

The development comes after U.S. District Court Judge Landya McCaffrey decided she needed to issue the order because of the state’s Department of Education coming deadlines for all public-school districts to certify they’re complying with the ban or risk a significant loss of state government grants.

The temporary decision will end at midnight on Sept. 19th unless the judge issues a decision in the meantime on the lawsuit that a coalition of groups brought seeking a preliminary injunction against the prohibition.
