Today is Beyoncé’s big album release day! Cowboy Carter is out now, with 27 songs. That’s basically a concert worth of songs, with features from a variety of artists including Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, and Willie Nelson.
Let’s be clear, Beyoncé says that her album is not meant to be country but rather Beyoncé, aka her style of music. She does want to stay authentic to herself even while exploring new topics in her music.
After listening, it’s interesting to hear her sing about country concepts. The lyrics are beautifully written and meaningful, which is refreshing when most pop artists have not so pure lyrics.
Even with this positive side, country fans will have their own opinions about the album.
Not only do country fans have mixed opinions about the album, but country singers do as well. HARDY spoke out after performing at the Texas Rodeo, hinting that maybe he wasn’t a fan of the way she’s breaking into country music.
He states, “Didn’t see Beyoncé at the rodeo” on his Instagram.
C’mon HARDY, did you expect to see her at the rodeo?!
Even with the Dolly Parton cover of Jolene, it will be interesting to see the backlash or positive reviews of this album! What we can appreciate, is that this is her twist on country and Beyoncé continues to not try and be somebody else.
