Who Had The Concert Of The Summer?

There’s not much of a debate of who has the concert of the summer, especially here in New England.

Whether it was Bank NH Pavilion or Gillette Stadium, New Hampshire and Boston always bring in the best of the best country singers each summer. Even when I got to chat with Walker Hayes, he said that his family’s favorite venue is Bank NH Pavilion, because of all that there is to do including Lake Winnipesaukee, onsite mini golf, golf carts, basketball, corn hole, and more!

At the end of the summer as we look back at the incredible concert season, it’s always clear who comes out on top. The Sun Goes Down Tour, Kenny Chesney’s tour, brings in not only the best show but three days of absolute madness.

It’s so crazy to think that there’s not one show, but a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night show to end his summer No Shoes Nation run. I was lucky enough to attend the Friday night show, and my vlog is below!

One part that stood out to me, is that there are four acts, giving it the feel of a music festival. With four acts Uncle Kracker, Megan Moroney, Zac Brown band, and Kenny Chesney, there was no dull moment at the show. Not to mention, the merch table was staked.

Uncle Kracker was first, kicking off the show at 5:00pm with some of his tunes that put you in summer mode like Drift Away, Follow Me, and Smile. Megan Moroney was shortly after at 6:00pm, and I was not okay.

Megan Moroney was one who I was most excited to see! Whether it was her outfits, sparkly microphone, or her set, she definitely did not disappoint. She performed songs that we know and love like some AC DC, as well as Tennessee Orange. Moroney sang new ones off of her album too including Am I Okay, Miss Universe, and Hope You’re Happy.

After Moroney graced the stage, it was time for Zac Brown Band! By then the pit was filled with people. After the crew opened with Keep Me In Mind, Zac Brown shared that it was “good to be home” in Boston!

It’s always good to hear the band’s set with songs like Toes, Jump Right In, and new songs like Tie Up. They even threw in a surprise song Bohemian Rapsody! Nobody is complaining when Zac Brown is singing!

When 9:00pm rolls around Kenny Chesney popped out on stage. He had so much happy energy, it reminded me of a happy grandfather (in the best way of course). I couldn’t believe his high energy and level of excitement to be in Boston.

Of course, Chesney loves Boston and performs his three nights at Gilette Stadium, and one or two at other stops. It’s always the last destination on tour, which is bittersweet, but there’s always surprises up Chesney’s sleeve.

Moroney came out towards the end of the show to perform a few songs, as one of the many unexpected events during the Friday night show. During She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy, Moroney drove out a little toy tractor as seen in the video below!

I can’t recommend this show enough! If there is anyone you take the time to see in country music, add Chesney to your bucket list. There are so many videos from the show on our Instagram, so you can catch up on all of the moments you missed.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
