Reactions to Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter”

Beyoncé said, “this ain’t a country album, this is a Beyoncé album” . . . and she was right.  On “Cowboy Carter“, there’s a centralized country theme and some great country songs.  But her pop showmanship shines throughout.

It also has elements of hip-hop, bluegrass, rock and roll, and even an operatic run.  With 27 tracks, this album is just far too big to be put into one box.  But that new version of “Jolene” is here to stay.

You’ll be hard-pressed to find any celebrities that had anything bad to say about it.  Here are some of the best responses so far:

1.  Dolly Parton posted on Instagram and said, “Wow, I just heard Jolene.  Beyoncé is giving that girl some trouble and she deserves it.  Love, Dolly P.”

2.  Miley Cyrus, who’s on the track “[Two] Most Wanted”, said, “I’ve loved Beyoncé long before I had the opportunity to meet and work with her.  My admiration runs so much deeper now that I’ve created alongside [her].”

3.  Post Malone, who’s on the track “Levii’s Jeans”, said on his Instagram stories, “Thank you Beyonce.  Congrats, this album is beautiful.”

4.  Maren Morris also said, “Till the day I die, seeing Linda Martell’s name on a Beyoncé album will never not give me chills.”

5.  Linda Martell said, “I am proud that Beyoncé is exploring her country music roots.  What she is doing is beautiful, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

6.  Nancy Sinatra said, “To have a little piece of one of my records in a Beyoncé song is very meaningful to me because I love her.  This may be the best sample of ‘Boots’ yet.”

7.  Lynda Carter said, “From one Carter to another . . . tips cowboy hat.”

8.  And finally, maybe the most esteemed critic of all . . . Elmo tweeted a picture riding a horse and said, “This ain’t Texas.  This is Sesame Street.”

Fun Fact: “Texas Hold ‘Em” had already been streamed over 200 million times before the album dropped.  Now “Cowboy Carter” is the most-streamed album in a single day in 2024.
