Brush fire in Claremont considered suspicious

CLAREMONT N.H. – Police are investigating a suspicious brush fire that occurred around 11p.m. Wednesday night.

Claremont Fire fighters responded to the area of Byrd Avenue for a reported brush fire. Upon arrival, crews conducted an initial size-up and discovered a large brush fire burning on the opposite side of the railroad tracks.

Fire crews worked for several hours to contain and control the fire, which ultimately burned an estimated 2-3 acres.

The fire is currently considered suspicious in nature. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Claremont Police
