TAMWORTH, N.H, – The State Fire Marshal’s office says dozens of people were injured when the floor of a venue collapsed during a wedding ceremony.

Authorities say around 4:30 Saturday afternoon a call for First Responders came in after the wooden floorboards at the Preserve at Chocorua gave way and collapsed into the basement with about 70 people trapped under beams and farming equipment.

Once on scene authorities say they quickly learned that venue staff and other guests began offering first aid to those injured and provided additional assistance and then began on-scene evaluations for those injured.

Fire Marshal Sean Toomey says six adults were taken by ambulance to area hospitals with non-life threating injuries, and one person was transported by helicopter to Maine Medical Center, while multiple people were treated at the scene. However, officials note that four the induvial hospitalized have since been released.

Following the collapse officials say a joint investigation is underway to determine an exact cause but believe that the building may have been over capacity.
