CONCORD, N.H.- Former State Sen. Andy Sanborn plans to plead guilty to misusing more than $250,000 in COVID-19 relief funds, as authorities allege he used the money to among other things purchase luxury sports cars for his wife.
According to court documents Sandborn has agreed to a deal where he’ll plead guilty to a single count of theft of government funds after waiving his right to a trial, with prosecutors agreeing to recommend that Sanborn only spend a year and a day in prison along with having to pay restitution and interest on the $844,000 he obtained from the Small Business Administration.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s office meanwhile says Sanborn is still facing charges at the state level of misrepresenting the gross receipts of his business, Win, Win, Win LLC by approximately $1 million in order to receive more than $188.000 from the first round of funding from the state’s Main Street Relief Fund.
