HAVERHILL, N.H.- The man convicted of shooting his cousin has been sentenced to at least 35 years behind bars.
Appearing before a judge Monday Lance Goodrich remained silent while he was sentenced in the death of Brooke Goodrich.
The sentence comes after Prosecutors had asked Goodrich to be sentenced to at least 45 years to life, while Goodrich’s lawyers had asked the court for 25 years to life.
During the proceedings, the victim’s mother Becky Springer, addressed the court and told Goodrich she hopes he remains behind bars for the rest of his life;
“When you die, I wish you get the afterlife deserved for being a horrible person here on Earth.”
The sentence comes after Goodrich was found guilty of second-degree murder this past May as police say he drove to his cousin’s home and shot the 25-year-old woman in the head after she opened her front door, a crime that investigators called an “unwarranted execution of an unarmed woman.”
Following the conviction Goodrich’s lawyers said they plan on appealing the verdict.
