Gretchen Wilson Said That Country Music Is “. . . A Little Too Wide Open”

Gretchen Wilson is never afraid to speak her mind.  She was interviewed recently by Evan Paul. Some of the topics they discussed were the first time she heard Carrie Underwood, how much she dislikes political correctness, and the worst mistakes new artists can make.

However, it was her thoughts on the current state of Country music that really stuck out.  She said, “I sometimes feel like in Country music we’re kinda like the border, a little too wide open.  Everybody, come on in.”

Then she qualified that statement by saying, “But then there’s other moments where I’m so glad that Country music is so all-encompassing.  And we have so much of a variety for people to listen to.

“Country music has become so wide, that if you can’t find some part of Country music that you like . . . well there’s kinda something wrong with you.”
