Hillsborough man points rifle at local police

HILLSBOROUGH, NH – Local officers from the Hillsboro Police department responding to an incident ended up arresting a man who was pointing a weapon at authorities.

On Wednesday officers responded to an incident involving a male on Pine Glen Road and once on scene encountered Steve Fitzherbert, 56, who was pointing what appeared to be a rifle at responding officers.

Police say officers were able to safely take Fitzherbert into custody without incident.

The weapon was later determined to be an airsoft-style rifle.

Fitzherbert has been charged with two counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon.
