MANCHESTER, N.H.- Hooksett officials are advancing a sewer expansion project along Route 3A aimed at attracting new businesses and supporting commercial growth.

The proposal would extend municipal sewer service beneath the Merrimack River to reach major retailers, including Bass Pro Shops, Walmart and Market Basket, helping businesses address septic system problems and reduce the need for individual systems.

Town officials are exploring funding options, including tax increment financing and a potential bond, while seeking contributions from businesses to help cover the multimillion-dollar project’s cost.
