Here’s your reminder that sometimes embarrassing your spouse on social media actually pays off.
Russell Dickerson has had one of the most unexpected country collaborations of 2026 thanks in large part to his wife, Kailey.
And it started with Russell singing “Trap Queen.”
Apparently performing the 2015 Fetty Wap hit is something of a party trick for Dickerson.
Kailey posted a video of her husband doing his rendition online.
People loved it.
More than 35 million views later, fans were repeatedly tagging Fetty Wap in the comments.
Eventually, it worked.
Dickerson says he had never met or communicated with the rapper before the viral moment, but after Fetty Wap’s release from prison earlier this year, Russell decided he wanted to see if they could somehow work together.
His managers initially weren’t convinced he was serious.
He was.
Once the viral video got Fetty Wap’s attention, the two teams connected and Dickerson sent over a song called “Boots.”
According to Russell, Fetty sent his vocal back the very next day.
Then they took the unlikely pairing one step further.
Fetty Wap surprised the crowd at CMA Fest in Nashville and joined Dickerson onstage in front of tens of thousands of country fans.
Dickerson still seems slightly amazed that any of it happened.
But the collaboration is only part of what’s making 2026 a pretty memorable year around the Dickerson house.
Russell and Kailey recently announced that they’re expecting their third child. They’re already parents to sons Remington, 5, and Radford, 2, who travel with Dad on tour whenever possible.
They’re also renovating a house while Kailey is writing a book.
Russell’s assessment of his wife handling all of that at once?
“Superwoman.”
There is one casualty of the home renovation, however.
Dickerson has become somewhat famous among fans for his beloved inflatable Costco hot tub.
He’s finally admitting that it may be time to upgrade to the real thing.
New baby.
New house.
Sold-out concerts.
A collaboration with a rapper that began because his wife put a goofy video of him on the internet.
Not a bad summer.
And somewhere out there is a husband deleting his wife’s latest Instagram post before she gets any ideas.
