CONCORD, N.H. – NH State Lawmakers are debating on whether to impose tougher prison sentences for fentanyl dealers.
Lawmakers at the State House have been discussing Senate Bill 467 which would set a mandatory sentence of three and a half years for dealers possessing 20 grams or more of fentanyl and seven years for those with 50 grams or more.
Several opponents of the bill argue mandatory minimums are ineffective, cruel, and often turn street-level addicts into police informants.
The House has rejected similar bills within the past two years
