Massachusetts hiker found dead on Kinsman Pond Trail

CONCORD, N.H.- Fish & Game Officials have confirmed a missing hiker from Massachusetts has been found dead in Franconia Notch.

According to investigators the body of Kent Wood, 61, was found Tuesday morning about 5 1/2 miles from his vehicle on a section of the Kinsman Pond Trail.

Wood reportedly drove to the Lafayette Campground in Lincoln on Friday to camp and hike for the weekend, but when he failed to check in with family members beyond Saturday afternoon, his family reached out to Fish & Game.

Authorities note that Wood had prepared for warmer conditions but was met with 3-5 inches of snow which fell between Saturday and Monday.

Following these recent development, Fish & Game is reminding hikers to be prepared for changing trail conditions, especially at higher elevations.
