CONCORD, N.H.- Lawmakers are scheduled to return to Concord this week and address a number of bills ranging from Education funding to compensation for lawmakers and a Voter ID bill.
First up the House will be presented a measure from Education Funding Committee Chairman Rick Ladd R-Haverhill that looks to change how the state’s education system if defined.
Lawmakers will also review and debate a number of proposed amendments to the State’s Constitution, one of which would allow lawmakers to set their own pay rate without voter approval, while another would require anyone elected to the Legislature or Governor’s office be a citizen of the United States of America.
On Thursday the Senate will address a bill that would only allow for Government issued IDs to be accepted at the polls, which could problems for college students planning to use their student IDs at the polls. However, critics say the bill would discriminate against younger voters and would not survive a constitutional challenge.
