Pamela Smart has filed a new petition to get her murder conviction overturned. Smart was convicted of orchestrating and being an accomplice to first-degree murder in the death of her husband, Gregg Smart and is serving life in prison. Her appeal is the latest in a series spanning more than 30 years.

Attorneys said a new scientific study demonstrates that a transcript accompanied by an audio recording can create a powerful expectation bias and the jury was tainted by the extensive media attention.
