MANCHESTER, N.H.- A staff shortage is being blamed for the reason why New Hampshire State Police Troopers have remained on campus at the Sununu Youth Services Center with the hope of maintaining safety.
According to officials from the State’s Department of Health and Human Services say troopers have remained on site following an incident that occurred on June 19th when a child caused what’s being described as significant property damage.
The news comes after Health and Human Services Commissioner Lori Weavrer recently warned the State’s Executive Council that, in the event it failed to extend the contract with Amergis Healthcare Staffing of Columbia Maryland it would not only lose 18 councilors, but that the staff-to-resident ratios could get dangerously low.
The Council however, ended up tabling the contract over claims by a pair of Executive Councilors that Amergis had let a someone with a history of sexual assault work at the facility which has since been proven incorrect.
There is a possibility that the Executive Council could pull the contract back up and review it at its next meeting scheduled for Wednesday July 8,2026.
