PETERBOROUGH, N.H.- The U.S. Dept of Education is investigating the Contoocook Valley School District over alleged Title IX violations for allowing boys in girl’s only spaces at the ConVal High School.

The call for the investigations comes following a complaint filed by the group Defending Education, on behalf of a parent who said her daughter felt uncomfortable after a biological male student who identifies as transgender, began using the girl’s locker room.

In its complaint the non-profit is alleging sexual discrimination, arguing that the space is designated for female students only.

Following the complaint district officials say they’re aware of the investigation and reviewing the complaint.
