MANCHESTER, N.H.- EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin says the Trump administration is right on schedule to approve permanently eliminating mandatory safety and emission inspections for cars and trucks, here in the Granite State.

Appearing Wednesday at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, Zeldin said the matter should be approved by year’s end, and that he would not prejudge the agency’s final rulemaking, however Zeldin did admit that he agrees with Republican leaders that eliminating emissions inspections is broadly popular among New Hampshire residents.

Zeldin also noted that the Clean Air Act which New Hampshire is looking to exit from, was not adopted to impose restrictions to deal with climate change, and that would be a further act for Congress to make.

Following Zeldin’s statements Gordon-Darby Holdings the state’s former inspection vendor issued a statement saying that New Hampshire is threatens to put citizens at risk by eliminating the test permanently;

“New Hampshire may meet all federal air quality standards on a statewide level, but attainment data reflects regional averages rather than the specific street-level air quality an individual breathes every day.”
