Christian’s Red Sox Report: Alex Cora among other staff fired after 10-17 start

The Boston Red Sox just made one of the biggest early-season moves you’ll see in baseball, and honestly, it came out of nowhere.

The team has fired manager Alex Cora along with multiple members of the coaching staff after a rough start to the season. We’re talking about a full reset in the dugout before we even really got into the heart of the year.

Boston opened the season 10-17 and sitting at the bottom of the AL East, and clearly the front office felt like something had to change fast. The offense hasn’t been producing, the energy hasn’t been there, and the results just haven’t matched the expectations.

Still, this is a big one. Cora isn’t just any manager. He’s the guy who led the Red Sox to a World Series title in 2018. You don’t usually see a manager with that kind of résumé get let go this early unless things are really off behind the scenes.

Along with Cora, several coaches were also let go, including hitting coach Peter Fatse and other key voices in the clubhouse. It wasn’t just one move. It was a full shakeup.

For now, Triple-A manager Chad Tracy is stepping in as the interim manager while the organization figures out what comes next. That means a new voice, new energy, and probably a different approach at the plate right away.

But here’s where things really start to heat up.

A growing number of fans aren’t just frustrated with what’s happening on the field. They’re turning their attention to ownership. There’s been louder chatter online and around Boston calling for the group led by John W. Henry to sell the team, with fans feeling like the organization hasn’t been aggressive enough or committed to winning the way it used to be.

Whether that’s fair or not, it shows you just how frustrated this fanbase is right now. When the conversation shifts from players and coaches to ownership, that’s when you know things are hitting a different level.

The big question now is simple. Does this actually fix anything?

Because if we’re being real, the problems in Boston don’t feel like they’re just about coaching. When your lineup isn’t producing and your team is struggling across the board, a new voice can help, but it doesn’t magically turn things around overnight.

Red Sox fans have seen a lot over the years, but firing your manager in April is about as loud of a message as you can send.
